Ashburton Guardian Office, Thursday afternoon. Messrs Matson, -Cox, and Co. held their usual sale of sheep, cattle and pigs at the Ashburton Yards on Tuesday last. The. entry of fat sheep were fully represented, especially in merino, wethers, which were some of the best thfct we .have seen in the market for some time. Our entries were from J. Grigg, H. T. Smith, jV F. White, J. Wilson, A Dawson, etc, :>nd | fcdmprised 797. sheep, which'sold at thJ fofidwing prices 96 crossbred ewes and wetheis,' 33 ditto, 14s 3d J 24 ditto, 14s; 31 merino wethers, ids 4d» 5° a t 9 s 50-at 9s 6dr—We quote per lb for mutton, and iSsiper xoolb for beet In store sheep the demand is still very dull, owing to the scarcity of feed, but any good sound and well-conditioned ewes in lamb find ready sale at current rate.; . < ■
