[bKUTBR’P TELEGRAMS —COPYRIGHT.] The Tasmanian Legislature. Hobart, Yesterday. Parliament was opened to-day by the Governor. In a speech on the occasion, His Excellency offered his congratulations upon the prosperous condition and satisfactory progress of the colony. After referring to the Postal Conference recently held in Sydney, the Speech remarked upon the large number of immigrants now leaving England, and announced that it had been decided to appoint an AgentGeneral for the colony in London. Parliament will be asked to concur in an Address to the Queen praying that effectual measures may be adopted to prevent the occupation of the Pacific Islands by foreign powers. The Revenue accounts show in a very marked manner the continuous advance of the colony, justifying the remission of Customs duties upon certain articles of general consumption.
