It has transpired that Sir Charles Rivers Wilson, one of the representatives of Great Britain in the Council of the Suez Canal Company, has been despatched by the Cabinet to Paris to confer with Count de Lesseps with a view of carrying into effect the agreement which was come toon the nth instant fcr the construction of a second Suez Canal. The New Ambassador. Paris, July 19. M. Tricon, who was recently appointed to succeed M. Bouree as French Ambassador to China, is announced to have arrived at Pekin. International Courtesies. In the House of Commons to-day, the Hon Evelyn Ashley read a telegram from Mr Service, Premier of Victoria, stating that a resolution had been passed by the Melbourne Chamber of Commerce, urging that it was most desirable that British influrnce should preponderate in the control of the second Suez Canal, The Cholera in Egypt. ■ Alexandria, July 20.
The latest reports to hand from Cairo state that the cholera epidemic is spreading in a most alarming manner in that city. No less than 140 deaths have already occurred through the plague.
