COURSING.
THE WATERLOO MEETING, 1883. Despite the weather, there was a large attendance at the Plumpton yesterday to witness the conclusion of the Waterloo meeting. The Cup was won by a Dunedin slut, and the victory was loudly cheered. The deciding courses in each event created the greatest excitement. Although the blue ribbon goes from Canterbury the representatives of this province managed to secure both the Purse and the Plate. The following are the final results: — ■WATERLOO PURSE. Third Ties. Seadrift beat Alchemist Gran-u-Wail beat Yan Dieman. Final. Mr Deacon’s r d Sea Drift, by Hook— Sea Lass, beat Messrs Ross and Bassett’s rw b Gran-u-Wail, by Musket— Banshee, and won the Purse. WATERLOO PLATE. Second Ties. Miranda beat Taraban Bordeaux beat Mermaid. Final. Mr R. P. Hill's bk wd Bordeaux, by Champagne Charlie—Peeress, beat Messrs Macaulay’s f b Miranda, by Totara—Sunbeam, and won the Plato. WATERL :0 CUP. Fourth Ties. Azalea beat Rock wood Bed of Stone beat Sea Foam. Final. Mr B. Crawshaw’s be w b Bed of Stone, by Hook—Sea Lass, beat Mr J. McDonald’s bd w b Azalea, by Totara— Gyp, and won the Cup.
