COURSING.

THB WATERLOO MEETING, 1883.

The weather yesterday was somewhat cold and dull, but there was a very large attendance at the Plumpton Ground to witness the first day's coursing in the Waterloo meeting. Mr Chatteris, the Secretary, had made every arrangement for the comfort of the visitors, who manifested throughout great interest in the sport. The kills were far too numerous, scarcely a single hare escaping, but this is due to the animals not having become used to the ground. The following are the results of yesterday’s work :—• The Waterloo Cop, for 64 all-aged dogs at Ll2 10s each, the property of members of any recognised Club, the subscription to which is not less than LI per annum. Winner, L2OO and plate value LSO ; runner-up, LIOO ; third and fourth, L 25 each; fifth, sixth, seventh and eight, Ll 5 each ; eight winners of two courses, LlO each; and sixteen winners of one course, L 5 each ; 53 subs.
