Ashburton Guardian Office, , ( Wednesday aftemosn. The New Zealand Loan 1 and Mercantile Agency 1 Company, Limited (per Mr E. G. Stavdey, auctioneer), report as under on Ashburton live stock market on loth July.— Sheep : A large entry was brought forward, consisting. almost entirely of merino steres, ; Which brought from 5s to 6s 2d for wethers, and 43;6dt0 5s 8d for ewes in lamb; but in comparison to the numbers submitted, trade was very dull, the majority of those yarded b»m£ turned out unsold. One or two pens of tat sheep made 8s ?d and 9s 6d for merinos, and 14s ?d crossbreds. The attendance during the day was considerable, but no animation was manifested by buyers.—Cattle; A mode-; rate supply was entered in this department also, safes were difficult to effect, at our quotations. Medium steers, in good forward condition, Lj 13s 6d and L 6 2s 6d. Fat cows and heifers, L 4 ys 6d to Ly 15s ; springers up to L 8; 18 months stock, 38310473; 2-year-olds, L 4. We yarded 2, y 45 sheep and 15 head of cattle. No pigs were brought to the market.
