He was knocked down and the cart went over him. Cutter Ashore. Gisboene, To-day. The cutter Agnes Donald ran ashore yesterday at Gisborne. The Napier Harbor Works. Napier, To-day. The judges in London for the selection of the best plan for the harbor in Napier have given their decision in favor of Mr W;. W. Culcheth, of Melbourne. The Harbor Board has cabled to Mr Culcheth for his designs and estimates. Obituary. Mr Robert Stuart, the first and thrice Mayor of Napier, died on Saturday afternoon, after a long and painful illness. The deceased was succeeded by Mr R. Beetham as R.M., holding that office till the appointment of Mr H. Byre Kenny. At the general elections in 1876 he stood for the House of Representatives, but was defeated by Captain Russell. A Protest. Masxbexon, To-day. A large pastoral meeting on Saturday, Mr Buchanan in the chair, severely censored the Government for their reglect to eradicate scab. The following resolution was carried unanimously : —“That this meeting calls upon the Government to take immediate and effective steps to eradicate scab in the Wairarapa district.” Milling News.
