FIRES.

[by telegraph.] New Plymouth, To-day At six o’clock last evening Johnson's stables, at the rear of the Masonic Hotel, Waitara, were burnt down. There is no clue as to the origin.

Gisborne, To-day. ’ An eight-roomed house, owned and occupied by Mr Gornice, bailiff of the R.M. Court, was totally destroyed by fire this morning. Mr Price, late R.M., who has. been seriously ill for some time, has occupied apartments in the house, and had to be c-rried and left shivering in the cold till assistance came. He was subsequently brought into town. The insurance is not yet known.
