Sydney, Saturday.

A large fire occurred this evening at Newcastle. The extensive premises belonging to Messrs John Ash and Sons, timber merchants, were totally destroyed.

The Victorian revenue for the Quarter ending June 30th amounted to Li,350,000, being a decrease of L 29,000 compared with the same quarter last year. The revenue for the past financial year amounted to L 5,600,000, being an increase of Li 2,500. During the same period the Customs revenue increased by L74,3'50. The Excise returns have decreased by Ls9,soo, owing to the abolition of the beer duty. The territorial revgaSe decreased by Li 46,000. The railways increased by Li 33,000, and the stamps by Lx8,250.
