IN THE LOBBY.
[from our parliamentary correspondent] Wellington, To-day.
Dr Grabham, Inspector of Hospitals, has presented his first report to the Government. , Speaking of the, Ashburton hospital, the Inspector says: “The Committee seem 10 attend very rarely at the building, |but transact all their business at the Council offices. The medical officer appears to be very regular in his attendance, and is highly spoken of by the patients, who also stated they were well and kindly treated by the master and matron. It appears to the Inspector there is more work to be done at the Ashburton hospital than can be properly accomplished by thelast-mentioned officers, provided as they are with only one female assistant. Of their ability and industry he has no doubt, but they cannot keep the hospital grounds in creditable order without additional assistance.”
