Ashburton Guardian Office, Saturday aftemoen. Messrs Friedlaader - Bros, (in conjunction with Messrs R. Wilkin and Co., per Mr F. C. Tahart, auctioneer) report of the live stock Market for this week as followsAt the Ashburton Salmrds on the 29th lost the atvi: twwU«ri» of both buyers and sellers was limited, andPthe market dull, with total absence of f ‘ spirited biddings. We had a large entry of ‘ cattle and, an average supply of sheep, but a good many lets had to be turned out unsold,, riwing-to the absence of buyers at anything like iwArt rates. We also yarded a grand lot of fat pigs on account of John Carter, Esq, but they had to be trucked to Christchurch for sale, no purchaser being forthcoming here : no doubt their quality would command attention at Addington. Ihe supply of fat sheep was very good, but sales were only made for local requirements at rates equal to last week. We sold on account of Messrs J. Carter, G. Grice, E. Horsey, L. E. Corsbie, S. Donald--8oh; C. A. Hill, T. M. Greenaway, J. G. P. Good, G. Stewart, of Southland, and others, vizSheep.—l2o merino mixed sexes, at 7s pd; 250 merino hoggets, mixed,- at 6s; 190 merino stores, mitwi, at 3s id ; 120 merino ewes at 3s 6d ; 101 fat crossbreds, 2 and 6-tooth, at .10s 6d; 59 fat crossbred ewes at 12s; 60 lat 2-tooth wethers at 13s 6d; 28 fat merino wethers at 2S'9d, etc. In fat cattle we sold X very grand qow on account of John Carter, Esq, for Ln ; ttlti, on other accounts, I each at LB, L 7 and JUG ; 3bows at L 72s 6d, 3 <Jo at Ls 12s 6d, 2 at-LS 7s 6d; stores, 1 each at I 4 S s > L 4 25 6d, L 4 is, L 3 12s 6d, L 3 is, 11 young mixed cattle at 37s 6d; 13 steers and heifers at 365; tst- do at 32s ;and on account of Mr George Stewart, Southland, a line of polled Angus cattle, viz, 1 bull and 6 young cows at L 6 15s each.
