The Company is proposed to be formed for the pm pose of purchasing the property hnd business of the Lioii Brewery ■Company in Ashburton. , i 'The very extensive agricultural district, jin the centre of which the town of Ashjburton is,situated, is one in which a very [large private as well as hotel trade is (carried on, and the faciliiies for brewing all that could be wished, and the water of [better quality for the purpose than can be found elsewhere in the Province of Canterbury. I The Lion Brewery is situated on T.S; 366 and 367, at the corner of Dobson and pass streets. The building is of brick, Jwith a concrete cellar, which can be {extended underground at a very small cost, and is quite new, having been erected about twelve months. : The Building and Plant is all of firstijlassquality ■-well arranged and very complete, and with the connection already established it is anticipated that there will be no difficulty in extending the business, With the influence of the Company and capital throughout Canterbury, but particularly throughout, the; Ashburton County. 1 ' I The success which has attended the Brewery Companies in every part of the world, offers a great inducement to dapitalists and investors to take up shares |n Companies of this description, and the Prompters have the greatest confidence m the success of the Company, and have agreed to take One Thousand Pounds’ worth of fully paid up shares should the Company desire them to do so. ! It is further proposed to obtain the services of a first-class brewer, to ensure a large and-profitable trade being done. J Although the nominal capital of the Company is £20,000, a comparatively amall surri is ' required to purchase the present preiirises and plant of the Lion Bjrewery, viz., £3,000, the stock being t^ken.at .a. valuation. . | The increased capital is required to extend the present premises and business, aftd-ialiso to erect a malthouse. It is believed that malting will be a very profitable„ byanch of.'the Company's business, oyihg to the quantity of barley grown in the immediate district.
jit is proposed to issue 2,000 shares only ac present, but it will be left to the discrietion of the Provi- ional Directors to issue as many shares as they think desirable. It propbsed to call up £2 per share, as required, in calls of not more than 10s per snare, and at intervals, after the allotment, of not less than three months.
