It was a peculiar action, arising out pf the insolvency of Creamer. When ii solvent the debtor arranged with the defendant to advance enough on a bill of sale to pay 10s in the£. A cheque for L3SO was handed to one Jameson, a solicitor, ,to be .transmitted to the trustee of' the debtor. Jameson lodged the cheque in the Bank to his own account’ sniaing' his Own cheque to the trustees. OB’being 1 presented Jameson’s cheque w&'dishonored. Since then Jameson has left 4hb colony. The present action was bfdhght to discover for whom Jameson was 1 acting, Creamer alleging heacte.i for the 1 defendant, and the defendant maintainidg that he was acting for Creamer. Perpetual Leasing. There was good competition for the land, under the perpetual leasing system, In the Hendon and Hendonside .districts. In. ev.ety instance there was more than ohq applicant, and a considerable advance oh the upset price offered. In one case there were ten applicants, and the successgave 3s 6d above the upset.
