The Company is proposed to be formed for - the purpose of purchasing the property and business of the Lion Brewery Company in Asnburtun. The very extensive agricultural district, in the centre of which the town of Ashburton is situated, is one in which a very large private as well as hotel trade is carried on, and the facili ies for brewing all that could be wished, and the water of better quality for the purpose than can be found elsewhere in the Province of Canterbury. The Lion Brewery is situated onT.S. 366 and 367, at the corner of Dobson and Cass streets., The building is of brick, with a concrete cellar, which can be extended underground at a very small costj and is quite now, having been erected about twelve months.
, The Building and Plant is all of firstclass quality, well arranged and very complete, and with the connection already established it is. anticipated that there-will be no difficulty in extending the business, with the influence of the Company and capital,; throughout Canterbury, but particularly throughout the Ashburton County'.' . The success which has attended the Brewery Companies in every part of the world a great' inducement to capitalists and'investors to take up shares in Companies of this description, and the promoters have the greatest confidence in the;success pf the proposed Company, add have agreed to. take One Thousand Pounds’ worth of fully, .paid up shares should the Company daSii?e them to do so. ,l£,iß. further proposed to obtain the services df a' first-class .brewer, to ensure a large and profitable trade being done. Although the nominal capital of the Company is £20,00Q, a ; comparatively is required to purchase the present’premises and plant., of the Lion RrbWery, viz., £3,000, the stock being takenift a valuation. It is proposed to issue 2,000 shares only at present, bat it will be left to the discretion of the.
