The Mayor and Dr Campbell, who went to Wellington as delegates of the Rotorua Railway Company to secure the aid of .the Government in obtaining a native- land, endowment, have returned. Fine weather, with moderate windj_ was experienced throughout the voyage, and no occurence of special interest took place. The ship has arrived in beautifully clean order. . There are six of the regular emiployeea of. the New Zealand Shipping 'Company serving as officers on board, daptain,, Bone, late of the Rakaia, being ' second officer. Sad Fatality. Christchurch, To-day. A boy named Payne, while at work yesterday, in No. 3 export shed at Lyttelton, fell from etack of potatoes and sustamed concussion of the brain. He was .removed to the cottage occupied by his mother, where he died at eight o’clock in the evening. Another Accident.
A young lady named Humphreys was knocked down this afternoon by a runaway High street, and seriously in- ' She was conveyed to the Hospital. Death of an Official. Dunedin, To-day. Mr* J. T. Worthington, Clerk of the Court at Queenstown, died from cancer in thp tongue. . An Accident. JM£ H.Driver, met with an accident, which will delay his attendance at Parliament. An Arrival. A ship, supposed to be the Caesarea, has been signalled ten miles from the Heads.
