At the wool sale to-day the catalogue comprised 11,900 bales. The bidding was steady, but the demand was not active. During the week 12,000 bales were withdrawn. Monetary and Commercial. The total reserve in the Batik of England in notes and bullion is Li 0,700,000, being an increase of L 30,000 compared with last week. The proportion of reserve to liabilities remains at 35 per cent. The Bank rate of discount is unchangecj at 3 per cent and the market rate s at '3 Consols have advanced to New Zealand securities are unchanged, and the markets for breadstuff's and tallow are without quotable change.
