A more than usual interest was taken in the election of auditors for the Borough this year, which event took place yesterday. Ai’ active canvass was made by all the candidates, and a good many ratepayers registered their vote. The poll closed at six o’clock, and about an hour later the Town Clerk announced the numbers to be as follows : James Charles Duncan ... ... 84 William Hickley Gundry ... 75 Charles Ward ••• ••• William R. Boyle ... ... 48 Alfred Curtis * ... 19 Messrs Duncan and Gundry were ac? cordingly returned. The former gentle*man was present at the declaration of the poll, and expressed himself as highly gratified with the result, thanking those who had helped to place him in that proud position.
