NOT WANTED.
To the Editor. Sir, —In your paper I see a notice of application for a licensed house at Allenton. What, in the name of goodness, do we want with a publichouse ? It is not wanted at all. We have quite enough disgrace in our district already that I hope will soon be put a stop to, but if we have a publichouse, then it, in my opinion, will only increase the number of such places : and what a nice introduction to our Woollen Factory employees this would be. Now, Mr Editor, everyone knows that Sergeant Felton and his men have got sufficient to do to look after the Borough without having an extra publichouse under their supervision. I hope someone more able than myself will take this matter up and assist to oppose the granting of such a licence.—l am, etc., A Ratepayer
