The Khedive has consented to accept a Constitution based upon the suggestions made by Lord Dufferin, the English representative at Constantinople. Disturbances between the Arabs and Greeks at Port Said are being renewed. Yesterday serious riots occurred, which, however, wore ultimately suppressed by British troops. The report of the riots has occasioned great excitement in Cairo. German papers urge that France should be included in the alliance of European powers proposed by Bismarck. Prince George, the second son of the Prince of Wales, has sailed for Canada as a midshipman on board a British man-of-war.

Latest advices from Russia state that the Czar has finally determined that his coronation shall take place on the 27th inst.

London, May 2.

In the French Chamber of Deputies yesterday, in reply to Duo de Broglie, M. Challemel Lacour, the Minister of Foreign Aflairs, admitted that Germany, Austria, and Italy had entered into a triple alliance hostile to France. He added, however, that the Fiench Government attached no importance to the alliance, as it considered that it would not injuriously affect the interests of France.

The Indemnity Commiasion, which was appointed to consider the claims preferred by residents in Alexandria on account of the damage to their property by the bombardment of the town by the British, has sent in its report. The Commission recommends that a sum of £645,000 be voted for the purpose of meeting the' claims.

The cpnstitution which was assented to by the Khedive has been officially proclaimed. -

Lords Wolseley and Alcoster have agreed to accept a lump sum, in place of pensions of £2,000 per annum which the Government proposed to pay them in consideration of their services in the Egyptian war.

It is reported that 5,000 French convicts will shortly be despatched to Noumea. The British and Australian Trust and Loan Company has declared a dividend of 7 per cent. No reply to the question was given. In a leading article published in its issue of this morning, the Standard protests against the proposed duplication of the Suez Canal.

In consequence of the unsettled condition of affairs in Armenia, consequent upon Turkish misrule, Russia is massing troops on the frontier. Her Majesty’s man-of-war Merlin has been commissioned for service on the Australian Naval Station.

In reply to the question asked in the House of Commons on Thursday ni'ht by Mr O’Kelly, member for Roscommon, the Hon. E. Ashley stated on the following night that the Netherlands laid no claim to the portion of the island proposed to be annexed by England, and that no opposition was to he expected from that quarter. A discussion on the proposed annexation of New Guinea arose in the House of Lords on Friday night. In the course of the debate Earl Carnavon and Earl Northbrook expressed their admiration for the zeal and activity displayed by the Australian colonies in endeavoring to extend the limits of Her Majesty’s possessions.

Mr Harrold has been appointed one of the Directors of the Australian Steam Navigation Company. Baron Lesseps has announced that he claims the exclusive right in the proposed scheme for widening the Suez Canal. It has been reported that “ Number One,” who directed the operations of the Assassination Committee in Ireland, intends to surrender himself to justice and turn Queen's evidence. The report in circulation early this morning, that “ Nunber One,” who inspired the movements of the Irish, Assassination Committee, intended to surrender himself to the authorities and turn Queen’s evidence, created a profound sensation throughout the city. Great excitement prevails, and it is now stated that “Number One” is actually in the custody of the Scotland Yard authorities, and promises to make a full confession of all the murders whicn he has been connected with.

It is stated that Patrick Delaney, one of the men cennected with the Phoenix Park murders, will probably bo reprieved. On the 2nd inst. he pleaded guilty, and was sentenced to death.

Yesterday was the anniversary day upon which Lord Cavendish and Mr Burke were murdered in Phoenix Park. Contrary to expectation, no Fenian demonstration was made, and everything passed off quietly. London, May 8.

The report is denied that Tynan, commercial traveller, who under the cognomen of “ Number One ” is alleged to have directed the actions of the Assassination Committee, had given himself into the custody of the detectives of Scotland Yard.
