The Royal College of Music was opened to-day by the Prince of Wales, in the presence ot a large and distinguished assemblage. The proceedings passed off with great success, lo the course of the opening address His Royal Highness took occasion to thank Sir W. T. Clarke, and Sir Thomas Elder, of Australia, for their scholarships to the College.
Musical Honors. It is announced that Messrs G. A. Macfarren and Arthur S. Sullivan, the well-known musicians, and Mr George Grove, have been knighted for their services in connection with the Royal College of Music. Monetary and Commercial
