Jeff for 14 years (from 7th September, 1880) at £147 14s 4d for the first seven years, and £295 14s 8d for the second seven years. 134 Ashburton town sections, containing 33a 3r 3p, of which 16 sections are let for 21 years at L 390 13s 4d for the first seven years, increasing 50 per cent, each period of seven years. 42 sections let for five years at £64 10s per annum. Auditors’ Report. We have audited the balance-sheet of Borough of Ashburton for the year ending 31st March, 1883, and have compared it with the vouchers and Bank pass book, also with the dog register and collars on hand, rate-books, and list of arrears of rates, reserves book, and list of arrears of rents, and find the same to be in order and the balance correctly stated. ■ Wo would suggest that the list of arrears of rates prior to 1883 and the arrears of rents be placed in the hands of the Borough Solicitor for collection, in order to make the check on the books complete.
