Creswick mining accident was due to ,an error of judgment on the part of Mr ■ Nicholas, the mine manager, in conse- - quehce of a mistake in the survey. A rider .to the verdict recommended a •compulsory mode of signalling, also -that escape drives should be provided with ladders. The Wool Sale Dates. The market is quiet, .and but little doing; the local demand has been satisfied. Forty thousand 'bags have been bought for February delivery, add the same quantity of New Zealand Tuscain wheat, bought at 4s ■pd, is now afloat. Town flour, Lll 10s; country brands, Lio 5s to Lti. In freight there is nothing doing, and the quotation is 15s nominal. Sadden Death. . During the sitting of the Wesleyan Conference h'ere to-day the Rev.
