Berlin, Jan. 18. Discount at the Imperial Bank of Germany is now at four per cent. [Received Jan. 20, 2-5 p.m.j Fatal Explosion. Berlin, Jan. 19. A serious explosion occurred to-day at a powder mill in Minden, a strongly fortified town in Westphalia.. The greater portion of the place hias been shattered to pieces, and twelve lives have been lost. The Bonapartist Pretenders. Paris, Jan. 19. In the Chamber of Deputies to-day M. Faillieres, Minister of the Interior, introduced a Bill to provide measures to prevent the issuee of manisfestos by Bonapartist pretenders. The measure provides for the punishment pf offenders by imprisonment, instead of expulsion from France. Socialists in Franca. Prince Krapotkin and th‘e leaders pf the socialist movement have been sentenced to five years’ penal servitude, and various terms of imprisonment have been passed on other prisoners.
