o<i ' ; The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile- - c]Agency Company, Limited, report on the local wool sales as follows :—Our third sales of the season were held at the Christchurch Wool and , Grain Warehouses yesterday, when we submitted the largest catalogue ever offered; in Canterbury. There was only a limited attendance, but all present proved to : be buyers, and biddings were animated throughout. Every lot brought forward was well competed for, and - ■ considering the heavy condition of the bulk of p the wools offered, prices were extremely satisfac- ° tory. The quantity submitted reached the respectable total of 1,754 bales, of which 1,037 were placed, leaving 717 for future disposal. Annexed we give in detail the prices realised, from which it will be noted that merino made
yd to 6Xd to B}id ; Romney, 8d; Leicester, yd ; ‘ scoured lambs’, gd ; scoured crossbred, ioXd .to ll}£d; scoured merino locks, is scoured merino, is 7Xd- Choice merino 5- received special attention, the brands making most money were—Buccleuch, from the Alford district, 67 bales at xoXd ; Whiterock, from ■ hear Rangiora, 103 bales at xoXd; and Ashley downs, 13 bales xod. 1
