CRICKET.

BOROUGH V. COUNTY. A match was played yesterday afternoon between the above. Elevens, result-

ing in an easy victory for the Borough by seven wickets. 'The County were the first to go to the wickets, A. Fooks and Castelli making a good stand, and giving the field a considerable amount of work. Dr Leahy put together 9 runs, but with the exception of Wroughton, who scored 23 by ..careful play, none of the others distfnguished themselves, and the innings closed for 104, The Borough opened badly, Castelli’s first ball removing Amos’ off bail. Grove* was the next man, but he did. stay long, as when he had made 8 Gas tell i cleaned bowled him. Andrews and Crocker made a good stand, the former especially hitting the bowling about in all directions and giving (he field a lively time. Several changes of bowling we r e resorted to, and a separation was at last effected by Wroughton, who was playing under great difficulty, owing to a blow ho received while batting, clean bowling Crocker, who had made 20. Among the retiring batsman’s hits was one to leg off Castelli, for which seven was run. Beard joined Andrews, and the two kept their wickets up till their opponents’ score was topped. Andrews played carefully, and his companion showed considerable hitting power and good defence. The victory of the Borough may be said to have been in no small measure due to the miserable fielding on the part of the County men. Balls were muffed in a most disgraceful way, and it would certainly be as well if more attention were paid in future to this most important part of the game. Subjoined are the scores ; County. A.
