THE NEW ZEALAND LOAN SUCCESSFULLY FLOATED.
[rktttkb’s telegrams— copyright.] [Received Jan. 12, 1 10 p.m.] London, Jan. 11, evening. Tenders for the one million four per cent, loan for New Zealand were opened to-day. The total amount of fcred'was found to be one million five hundred and twenty thousand pounds, at prices ranging from the minimum of to ioi. Tenders at ninety-eight and nine-sixteenths will receive allotment to the extent of seventy eight per cent. Tenders above ninety-eight and nine-sixteenths will receive in full. [Received Jan. 12, 1.30 p.m.] Melbourne, To-day. . The Australasian Insurance and Banking .Record has an article commenting on the New Zealand loan. It draws attention to the date of issue and the minimum fixed, and says that it looks like an attempt to “jostle ” Victoria. It adds that it is the first time in the history of the colonies that such a proceeding has occurred.
