. Auckland, To-day. : The case of alleged murder against to 'Priestly i and Mrs - Hamilton commenced v:at the Police Court to-day. Mr Earl ..and Mr Cooper defended the accused. -’I-Mr -Williamson, the Crown Prosecutor, prosecuted. Strong comments were - vI made by the prisoners’ counsel, re ■ s newspapers, commenting on the case. r ’ Over forty witnesses are to be examined. , The only evidence of importance that has .‘.as yet transpired is that rf Dr Golds—borough, who made the post mortem ex- , amination. He deposed that • the wound on Hamilton’s head corresponded exactly ' with the axe which Mrs Hamilton was - aeon carrying on the morning after Hamilton's death. He also deposed that the #ound could not have been caused by a fall on the bedstead, as asserted by Mrs Hamilton.
