No one will be allowed to enter a hone unless a subscriber of half-a-guinea to the fund, or when the prize is £2O or over, one guinea. All horses to have been owned in the County three months prior to the Races. Three horses to start or no race. No protest will be entertained unless £1 be deposited with the Secretary, which will be forfeited shpuld the same, in the opinion of the Committee, prove frivolous. The Fourth Annual Sports Meeting of the Ashburton Caledonian Society will be held on BOXING DAY, On the Society’s New Sports Ground, North-west Belt, When the Prizes enumerated below will be competed for : Programme op Sports : Races of 200 yards, 300 yards, and 440 yards (200 yards heat to be run after Scotch Reel)...looa 60s A third prize of 40s will also be given 26. Tug of War—Open to 10 men from Fire Brigades, Cricket Clubs, Volunteers, Football Clubs, Brass Bands, and members of other Clubs ...100s 27. Handicap Consolation Race—2ooyards ... 40s 20s A number of PHIZES will be competed for by CHILDREN during the day. Special prize to the best Highland Dancer, under 16 years— A silver medal, by Mr Malcolm Miller. Special prizes, presented by F. Hill, Esq., Somerset Hotel—For the Grand Handicap Flat Races, Silver Gup, valued at £3 : for the Mile Handicap Flat Race, Silver Cup, valued at £3; for Pipe Music, St Andrew’s Cross, valued at £3; for Dancing Highland Fling, St Andrew’s Cross, valued at £3. Special Prize, presented by Mrs Butler, Family Hotel—For Dancing Irish Reel, Silver Medal; and a 2nd prize of £1 by the Society. The time for nominations for all handicap races has been extended 1o 20th December. Nominations for all Handicap Races must be in the Secretary’s hands by five o’clock of the 20th December. Acceptances can be lodged at any time up to time of starting. Nomination fee on all Handicaps 2£ per cent, of the first prize. Acceptance fee, do.
