[per press association.] j Vital Statistics. % Napier, To-day. ‘ The vital statistics for November are— Births, 28 ; marriages, 5 ; deaths, 14. Customs Revenue. The Customs revenue for the month is ! L4,4G6, of which beer paid L 222, • A Good Sign. Not for years has the gaol been so empty. There are only twenty-one hard labor men, and six persons awaiting trial incarcerated. This time last year there were over sixty prisoners. Rainfall. Ruin has fallen to the extent of over 2|- inches. Wool. Wellington, To-day. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company report under date London, 28th Xovember: —The wool market . is unchanged. 44,000 bales have been sold, and 550 withdrawn from sale. Approaching Departure of Sir John Hall for Europe. It is stated that Sir John Hall, in consequence of continued ill-health, will shortly resign his seat for Selwyn, and visit Europe, being absent probably for two years. Sir John and Lady Hall and family, purpose leaving by the ship Lady Jocelyn, which is expected to sail from here in January next. Further Adjourned. The cases in connection with illicit distillation were further considered at the Magistrate’s Court this morning, and adjourned until the 6th inst. Fatal Fall from a Train. Balclutha, To-day. Edith Ann Smith, servant to Mr Russell, stationmaster at Stirling, fell from a carriage when the train Was neßring Stirling last night. She was conyeyed to Balclutha, attends i to by Ur.
