HOW TO RESTORE ORDER..
A novel expedient for imparting tranquility to an agitated theatrical audience was (it is said by the Era ) recently adopted by Mr Jack Harris, the lessee and manager of the Thalia Theatre at San Antonia, Texas, United States; It would appear that one evening, about three weeks ago, the auditorium being crowded at the time, some disturbance arose between the acts ot the piece ~ii| representation, and far from subsiding when’ the curtain was drawn - up, increased in boisterousness to such aid extent that the actors, unable to makd themselves heard, quitted the ’stag‘d Upon this Mr Harris came on and advanced to the footlights, holding in each hand a weapon of the class knowd throughout the Union by the name of “ navy revolver.” As he stood there bowing and smiling, obviously animated by a desire to address the' audience, a slight lull in the storm set in; of which he took advantage to apprise his “ friends and patrons,” with exqtfU site suavity of manner, that, if ordei were not restored in all parts of th 4 house within two minutes, he should “just shoot round anyhow.” Perfect peace, amounting in fact to breathless and terror-stricken silence, having suited from the good-natured warning} Mr Harris gracefully retired, and the performance was resumed without further delay.
