Consols are quoted at 102 }(, showing a decline of New Zealand securities remain at last quotations, viz.; Five percent, ro-40 Loan, per cent. 1889 Loan, 104, exdiv. ; Four and a half per cent 1879-1904 Loan, Colonial breadstuff's continue quiet at 49s for Adelaide wheat, ex warehouse; and 43s for New Zealand ditto; and 33s 6d for Adelaide dour, ex warehouse. The total quantity ot wheat afloat for Great Britain is 1,900,000 quarters, being an increase of 180,000 quarters during the week. Australian tallow is dull at 42s for best beef, and 43s 6d for best mutton. Gospel Oak corrugated iron, 2610. gauge, packed in cases fo.b. in London, remains at L2O ios, Best Sydney copra (sun dried), is quoted at Ll 9 ios, being an advance of 4s; best sides of Australian leather have declined frpm lid to The market is dull. The Cloture. In the House of Commons last night Sir Stafford Northcote’s motion for the rejection of the cloture as proposed- by the Premier was, after further debate, negatived on a division by 304 to' '24 (sic). The minority included the trfsh members. Subsequently rules for the adoption of cloture were agreed to by the House. Egyptian Affairs. In accordance with previous notice, Sir Stafford Northcote, in the Hoqse of Commons last night, enquired of the Premier when he would be prepared to discuss the question of the British occupation of Egypt. In reply, Mr Gladstone stated that he would make a statement on Egyptian affairs on meeting the House on Tuesday next, the 14th inst. Homeward Mails.

The Homeward mails per Cuzco, via Naples, which left Melbourne on 261 th September, by Brindisi, were delivered in London to-day. Attempted Assassination of a Judge. London, Nov. 12. An unsuccessful attempt was made yesterday to assassinate Judge Lawson, in Dublin. A man, whose name has not yet transpired, was arrested when on the point of firing a revolver at him. The Boers and the Natives. Capetown, Nov. 11. Intelligence has been received here of the further severe fighting on the Transvaal border between the Botfrs and the natives. In the recent engagement the latter, under Chief Montsio, were defeated with heavy loss, and the Boers have now occupied Montsio’s territory.
