The Metropolitan Meeting was con--1 tinned to-day under very unfavorable circumstances, the weather being dull and co’d, with, heavy rain from the southwest ; but the attendance, considering the i weather, was very good. The followp< dng are the details of the racing : Juvenile Plate of 50 soys, five furlongs. Hon. W. Robinson’s Oudeis, 7st 71b 1 (Derritt) 1. 1 Mr G. Cutts’ Water Nymph, fist 91b f .. (Butler) 2 Mr Bates’ Minerva, Bst (Rudings) 3 Siesta also ran ; Iris was scratched. Betting—s tb.2- on Oudeis. : Oudeis and Water Nymph were first away, and were never caught, Oudeis winning in a canter. Minerva just secured third place on the post. * Time— ; Imin 7£sec. Grand Stand Handicap, of 100 sovs. One mile. Mr D. O’Brien’s Tasman, 7at 121 b (Rudings) 1 Mr Lee’s Emir Bey; s>t 81b ( Wattie) 2 -Sir H. Pobinson’s Lady Emma,-Bst 111 b, ... ... ... (Allen) 3 Nautilus and Statesman also fan. s'to 4 agst Lady Emma, 2to 1 agst Tasman and Nautilus. Lady Emma and Tasman got all the beat of the start, and Tasman soon went to the front, and, although Emir Bey and Lady Emma made a splendid race of it up the straight, Tasman won by two lengths, Lady Emma being a good third. Time—lmin 49aec. ( Cant bed ury Cup, of 500 sovs. Mr D. Proudfoot’s Sir Modred (H. Thompson) 1 . Hon. W. Robinson’s Cheviot (smith) 2 Hon. W. Robinson’s Vanguard (Derritt) 3 Leos and Welcome Jack also ran. Betting—6 to 4on Cheviot, 6to 4 agst Welcome Jack, 4 to 1 agst the others. After several false starts the lot, were * lafeht a Way well together, Vanguard, Leos, and Cheviot cutting out the running. * Round the bottom turn Cheviot came to the front, and led past the stand with Vanguard, Leos, Sir Modred, and Wei- * come Jack iq the order given. Alonu the ;bafckp|the course Welcome, Jack made an * efforttoget up to theleaders, but failed, and , nearing the bottom turn fell back beaten, Leos having tailed off some time before. , Rounding the' turn Vanguard went up to Cheviot, and Sir Modred rapidly improved his position.
