Butter ; The quantity ciming forward is considerably less than usual at this season of the year, and commands lod per lb.—Cheese : Prime old meets with ready sale at B}£d ; new cheese, of which but little is on offer, realises 6}£d. The successful inauguration of the creamery works at Flemington since we last wrote is a feature in this connection deserving of more than passing not : ce. The dairy has become such an important factor in the profitable working af a farm as to be a real necessity. though nine-tenths of the farming community would prefer to save the labor, expense, and risk attendant thereon. By the factory system these ends are avoided, and when this fact is thoroughly recognised, we anticipate a large increase in the number of creameries. We can only hope that they may be aunched under as favorable auspices as those of the Ashburton Cheese and Butter Factory, which deserves the utmost support of all having any interest in the district.
