ASHBURTON RAGING CLUB.
A meeting of the Committee of the above was held last evening, at Quill’s Hotel. Present: Messrs E. G. Crisp (in the chair), T. Quill, C. C. Foots, R.
Friedlandcr, M. Friedlander, J. Wilkie, M. Stitt, W. Saunders, and Drs Leahy and Ross.
The Improvement Committee reported that the works on the course were progressing.—lt was proposed by Mr Friedlander, and seconded by Mr W, Saunders —“ That two of the horse stalls be fitted »ip for use as a publican’s booth.”—Mr Wilkie proposed as an amendment—- “ That the sitei tr - privileges be left to a committee, consisting of Messrs W. Saunders, T. Quill, R. Friedlander, and the mover,”—The amendment, which was seconded by Mr W. Saunders, was carried.
It was moved by Mr Wilkie, seconded by Mr W. Saunders, and carried—“ That the printing of race-cards be left in the secretary’s hands.” The following gentlemen were elected members of the Club:—Messrs Samuel Miller, F. Clark, Pelham Jones, John Lambie, and Sealy. After the transaction of some routine business the Committee adjourned.
