[per press association.] The Wellington Artillery Force. Auckland. To-day. Ten cf the Armed Constabulary from Cambridge left for Wellington per Ringarooma to-day, to form part of the Artillery force. A Swamper’s Fate. A swamper named Harrison has been missing from Waitoaj Upper Thames, since the 17th inst., and is supposed to be lost in the swamp, and to have died of exposure. When last seen he was the worse for liquor. The Te Aroha Goldfield.
A Mr Leigh, representing" Australian capitalists,recently here forthe purpose of reporting on the Te Aroha goldfield, expressed himself thoroughly satisfied. The Raglan Suicide.
The inquest on Captain Johnston, who committed suicide at Raglan, resulted in a verdict of “ Temporary insanity. ” Deceased was a nephew of Lord Campbell, Viceroy of India, and cousin of Sir George Campbell, member of Parliament for Kirkcaldy. Another Suicide.
Wanganui, To-day. The body of a man named Ayleward was found in the river this morning. Deceased jumped off the bridge into the water last night, at 11 o’clock, with the supposed intention of committing suicide. He was twenty-five years of age, and the cause is supposed to be through liabilities in an arbitration case.
