It is reported that a manufacturer named Holgate has admitted having made forty clockwork machines for the Fenians in America, some of them being those lately found at Liverpool in barrels of cement. “Next-of-Kin” Frauds. A. Mackenzie, J. H. Shakespeare, J. S. Rodgers, D. A. and W. Evans have been charged with conspiring to defraud. They had connection with an advertising agency, proposing to discover the next of kin and the heirs of unclaimed property. They were found guilty at Manchester assizes, and each was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment. Blasphemous Bradlaugh. Bradlaugh, together with another publisher of Ereethought journals have been committed for trial on a charge of issuing blasphemous publications. Doesn’t Like It. The Right Hon. John David Fitzgerald, Judge of the Queen’s Bench Division of the High Court of Justice, Ireland, recently appointed Lord of Appeal in Ordinary, has resigned his seat on the Bench, refusing to take part in the administration of the new Crimes Prevention Act. Isaac Ogle, clerk, formerly in the employ of Duffett, solicitor, Melbourne, who was arrested at Manchester on June the 26th, on a warrant charging him with embezzlement, was brought up at the Magistrate’s Court, London, when he strongly denied his identity with Ogle.
