London, July 5. The Government have obtained an injunction from the Law Courts restraining the further prosecution of the work* at Dover in connection with the construction of the Channel tunnel.
Two officers of the Char’s body guard, consisting of members of the holy league formed some time since to protact the Czar and neutralise the machinations of the Nihilists, have been arrested on suspicion of being connected with Nihilism. Public opinion in England rojoices that the French alliance, which was regarded as a source of embarrasment, has now virtually collapsed. The Times, in a leading article, deplores the rivalry existing between the various Australian colonies, which, it asserts, prevents their union on a basis of free trade. Intelligence has been received of the wreck of the Dutch man-of-war Ander, with a loss of eighty lives. An important new goldfield has been discoved in the Transvaal.
