HAND EIRE ENGINES.

TO THE EdITOB. - i Sib,— Some time ago—some months in fact —the Borough Council were very jubilant over the procuring and intended planting down in various parts of the western portion of the town of several hand fire engines. Can you direct me to whore any of those engines can be seen ? In ray peregrinations I have not yet been able to stiiinble upon one of them. Not long ago I saw the barman and the manager of Qjuill’s Hotel, busy washing the windows pf that establishment with one of the “ east end ” engines, while a well-known newspaper man looked on and grinned, and latterly got a drenching by way of a lark. But I have not yet ssen any of the west end’s squirters about.—l am, etc., Slush Bucket.
