Melbourne, July 4 A letter receiver) from Egan, the treasurer of the Land League, appears in the Advocate. Referring to the release of Parnell and others, it says the Government completely surrendered to the Irish leaders, but counsels Irishmen not to rest till they have abolished landlordism and established national self-government. The half-yearly returns, showing the result of the mining for the past six mouths in the Sandhurst district, show the industry to be in a flourishing condition. The total gold yield was 9i,5000Z3, being over 5,0000zs over the corresponding period for last year. Sieber who attempted to murder a barmaid at the Oxford Hotel on the 23rd April, was charged in the Police Court on the 29th. It was stated that he suffered a sunstroke. He reserved his defence, and was committed for trial.
