The agent of the Peninsula and Oriental Steamship Company at Suez telegraphs with reference to the preparations which it is alleged to have been made by the Egyptians for rendering the Suez Canal impassable, that no danger is at the present time anticipated for steamers using that route. Melbourne, To-day. The Victorian revenue for the past quarter amounted to Li,381,000, an increase of L 46,000 compared with the June quarter last year. The New South Wales revenue returns for the June quarter have been published. The total receipts for the period named were Lx,907,060, being an increase of La 17,000 compared with the June quarter of last year. The revenue for the year ended 30th June amounted to L 2,242,000, an increase of L 230,000 compared with that of 1880-81.
