A QUERY.

To the Editor. Sib, —Will you kindly inform one of your sporting readers if, in case one member of a Racing or Hunting Club resigns, the committee is justified in electing any member they may think fit to the vacancy without giving the other members of the Club notice of such meeting ? as in your issue of yesterday I notice the election of Mr Hutchinson as a committeeman of the Hunt Club vice Mr Learmouth, resigned. By giving the above information you will Oblige A Hunter. [lt is a matter which is altogether ruled by the by-laws of the Club, but it is by no means uncommon for a committee of a Racing Club or other Society to fill extraordinary vacancies in their number. Clause two of the N.Z. G.2ST.S. Club states that “ the committee shall have power to elect new members to fill any vacancy in their body,” and we believe the rules of the New Zealand Club are based on those of the parent body of Liverpool.— Ed.
