This is to notify that at a Special Meeting of the Council of the Borough of Ashburton, held on the 12th day of June instant. it was resolved to REPEAL By-law No. 55 and to ADOPT in lieu thereof the following By-law, that is to say—“lf any cattle shall at any time be found feeding, grazing, or wandering in any street or public place within the Borough, whether the same shall or shall not be attended by or in the charge of any person or persons the owner thereof shall be guilty of an offence, and notwithstanding the liability of any person to a penalty under this by-law any officer of the said Council or any police constable may seize and impound such cattle. And the word “owner” shall include the person having the lawful charge, control, or management of such cattle.”
And this is to further notify that a Meeting of the said Council will be held at the Council Chambers, in Burnett street, Ashburton, on MONDAY, the 10th day of July next, at seven o’clock in the evening, to confirm the said resolution. In pursuance of the provisions of “ The Canterbury Roads Ordinance, 1872,” and of “The Rating Act, 1876,”Public Notice is hereby given that it is the intention of the Board for the Longbeach Road District, at their next usual meeting, to be held on FRIDAY, the 7th day of July next, to make a General Rate of SIXPENCE in the £ on the value of sill the Rateab'e Property in the District for the period commencing on the Ist day of January, 1882, and ending on the 81st day of December. 1882, payable in one sum. on the 14th day of July, 1882.
