Melbourne, Yesterday. _ It has transpired that Mr Francis* during the negotiations which have been proceeding for a settlement of the Ministerial crisis, stated that he was agreeable to withdraw his amendment, which the Government have decided to treat as a vote of want of confidence, if Sir Bryan O’Loghlen will promise to allow his proposals for a remission of taxation to be negatived when they are brought before the Assembly for discussion. Melbourne, To-day. The negotiations between the Government and the Opposition with a view to a compromise in the present crisis continue. There are hopeful signs of an amicable settlement being arrived at, but, at the same time, much uncertainty prevails as to the result. Sir John O’Shannassy has announced his intention of opposing Mr Francis’ motion. The Wheat Market. Adelaide, Yesterday. Holders of wheat are unwilling to operate except at higher prices.
