Ashburton Guardian Office, Monday Afternoon. Mr T. Bullock reports, for the week ending June 17th : —Horse Market —At the Bazaar, Burnett street, on Saturday, finer horses were entered for sale than for some time past. There was a very good attendance, and for good uselul farm horses the biddings were spirited, in fact there were again several buyers for more than were entered, lint for inferior draughts the biddings were languid. The same remark applies to hacks and light harness horses ; out of the total number entered, viz., 11, I disposed of 7. Medium draughts, Ll 4 103 to L2B ; infeiior draughts, Lio 5s and Li I; 3 yearling colls, at L 5 each; 2 cows, each £4 10s and 1.5 respectively. Implements, etc —Dcuble-furrow plough, Lio; ditto, L 8 15s; spring trap and harness, L 9; tip dray, L 7 5s ; roller, harness, etc., at satis ractory prices. sco bushels oats, at 3s 3d per bushel. Landed property —During the week I have sold Mr W. Hampton's farm, nearTinwald, containing 56 acres, at 1-9 15s per acre, cash, Mr Joseph Ward being the purchaser. Mr Alfred Harrison reports his weekly sale as follows : —Saturday, June 17th —Several draughts and hacks were sold to satisfaction of owners. Pigs sold much better this week. Fowls, is 6d to 23 6d ; ducks. 3s 6d to 4s 6d; turkeys, 5s to 7s 6d each ; 2 cows, L 3 and Ls. Implements —Double-furrow plough, 1. 12; light cart, Ll 5 10s ; seed sower, Ll 3. Produce—Potatoes, 50s to 603 per ton ; carrots, 40s ; chicken wheat, 2s to 3s 6d per bushel ; oats, 3s 3d per bushel; cheese, ?d; onions, id ; apples, 10s to lis per case ; carcase pork, 3d- Harness and sundries sold well, the attendance being very large, though the sale had to be delayed in starting, in consequence of important revelations by the Returning Officer.
