“The Lyttelton Harbor Board Act 1882.” Clause 2. This Act shall be deemed to

be a special Act within the meaning of “The Harbors Act, 1878,” which Act And all Acts amending the same shall be incorporated with this Act. Clause 3. In this Act, if not consistent with the context, —“ Harbor ” means the Harbor of Lyttelton as defined at the lime of the coming into operation of this Act, or as it may be defined under “ Ihe Harbors Act, 1878,” or any Act amending the same ; “Board” means the Harbor Board constituted under the provisions of this Act; “The said Act” means “The Harbors Act, 1878,” and all Acts amending the same ; “ Chamber of Commerce ” means the present association in the city of Christchurch, known as the Christchurch Chamber of Commerce. Clause 4. A Board is hereby constituted under the said Act for the Harbor of Lyttelton, and such Board shall consist of thirteen members, of whom six shall form a quorum. 5. The Board shall be constituted as follows :—(1) Two members to be appointed by the Governor; (2) the Mayor for the time being of the Borough of Lyttelfon; (3) one member to be elected by the ratepayers of the Borough of Lyttelton ; (4) two members to be elected by the Christchurch Chamber of Commerce from among the members thereof ; (S) two members to be elected by the ratepayers of the city of Christchurch ; (C) one member to be elected by the ratepayers of the Borough of Sydenham ; (7) two members to be elected by the Council of the County of Selwyn ; (8) one member to he elected by the Council of the CoUnty of Ashley ; (9) one member to be elected by the Council of the County of Ashburton. Clause 6. The members of the Board to be appointed by the Governor may be appointed at any time after the coming into operation of this Act, and they shall hold office for a period of two years, to be computed from the first day of July, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-two. Clause 7- The first election of the elec- i tive members shall be held on the first 1 Wednesday in the month of October, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-two, in manner provided by the said Act ; and such elections shall be in substitution of - the ordinary biennial election required to be held in February next under the said Act. Clause 8. The elective members of the Board shall come into office on their election, and shall hold office from the time of their election until the biennial election ( of members of the Board, to be held in J February, in the year one thousand eight j hundred and eighty-five. t Clause 9. The now existing Lyttelton j Harbor Board shall cease to hold office on <; the coming into office of the elected mem- j hers of the Board under this Act. c Clause 10. All provisions of any Act c which may be repugnant or in contradic tion of this Act are hereby repealed.
