Consols are unchanged at and New Zealand securities remain at the following quotations: —Five per Cent. 10.40 Loan, 106 Yz ; Five per Cent. 1880 Loan, ios; Four and a Half per Cent. 1879-1904 Loan, The total reserve in the Bank ol England to-day is Li 2,875,000, being L 375,000 above the reserve of last Thursday. The Bank rate of discount remains at 3 per cent., and the market rate at The markets for colonial breadstuffs and tallow are unchanged. A firm and active demand was again experienced at to-day’s wool sales. 9,200 bales have been offered since the opening of the series, and 10,500 bales have been withdrawn. For hides the demand is limited, and prices are one-eight lower. The N.S.W. Loan. The tenders for the New South Wales loan of L 2,000,000 were opened to-day. The total subscriptions amount to L 4,000,000, and the tenders averaged LlO2 2S 1 id. Shipping. Arrived Lord Tredegar, from Timaru, March 7th ; Margaret Galbraith, from Napier, March Bth. Another Double Murder. London, June 9. News has been received from Ireland to the effect that Mr Bourke, a Galway landlord, and a dragoon who was escorting him, had been shot. The cricket match between the Australians and eleven of Nottingham County commenced to-day at Nottingham. The attendance at the match was very large, bat the weather was stormy, and the wicket was not in good order. The fielding of the Englishmen men was very good. The Australians went in first, and were all disposed of for 142. Blackham was not out for 46; Palmer, Ibw, 26. At the conclusion of the day’s play the Horae team had lost two wickets for 41 runs. Negotiations are still proceeding in regard to the proposed conference on the Egyptian question. The Porte is adopting an attitude of objection to the proposal, on the ground that its mission to Egypt will succeed in effecting everything that is necessary in settlement of the crisis. took place to-day, at Caprera. The ceremony was of an imposing and impressive character, and was witnessed by many thousands of people.
