Sunday last, has culminated in the severest frost that has occurred here for some years past. The Waipapa river overflowed its banks near to Tutoto, inundating the country between there and Rosland. The effects of the flood at Ormond have also been verysevere. Messrs Bloomfield, Wylie, and Melville Smith, succeeded in driving their stock to higher ground. Mr H. C. Braglan. who rendered important assistance in saving life at the last flood proceeded with a boat, accompanied by a few volunteers, to render assistance to out settlers in case of need. The Arahi bridge has, according to latest information, been washed away. This bridge was erected about three years ago, at a cost of L 2,500. The timely precautions taken by the settlers in sending stock away has prevented a much larger amount of damage than would otherwise have been done. The rain is still descending without any indication of abating.
