[per reuter’s agency.] The Sorata. London, June 5. The Orient Company’s steamship Sorata, which left Melbourne on April 19th, arrived at Plymouth on Saturday. The Hop Crop. Very favorable accounts have been received of this season’s crop from the Kentish hop districts. Wheat and Wool. Adelaide wheat is quoted to-day at 51s 3d and 50s 3d for off coast cargo. At the wool sale to-day 1,000 bales were offered. Market rates are weaker for most descriptions, but fine to the finest qualities are firm. Frozen Meat. A portion of the cargo of frozen meat ex ship Dunedin was sold at auction to-day, and realised an average of per lb for mutton, and for lamb. The Wandering Colonist. A telegram has been received from Belgium stating that Sir H. Parkes was officially received on his< arrival, and that banquets and other entertainments are being organised in his honor. The Egyptian Difficulty. In the House of Commons to-day, Sir Charles Dilke, Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs, denied, in reply to a question, that the Porte had rejected the proposal to hold a conference of Powers with regard to the Egyptian question, or that Lord Dufferin had suggested that a meeting of the conference should be postponed, on account of the action which the Sultan had taken. '» Postponed. The cricket match which was to have been commenced to-day at Bradford between the Australian Eleven and the Yorkshire county team has been postponed until to-morrow on account of rain. Resigned. The Vice-Chancellor, the Hon. Sir Chas. Hall, is suffering from paralysis, and has resigned his seat on the Bench. Money and the Markets. It has transpired that the Sultan has sent a telegram to the Khedive desiring him to order Arabi Pasha to put a a stop to construction of fortification in the neighborhood of Alexandria. Constantinople, June 5.

Frequent communications have been passing between the Foreign Ambassadors and the Porte, on the subject of a proposal to hold a conference for the settlement of the Egyptian question. It has transpired that the Turkish Government, without absolutely rejecting the proposals, was strongly urged that the conference would be useless in bringing about the result desired. A majority of the Powers have, it is understood, accepted the views of the Porte, and it it considered unlikely, therefore, that the conference will be held. Alexandra, June 4. In compliance with the demands of the Sultan, communicated to him through the Khedive, Arabi Pasha lias ordered the stoppage of works which were proceeding for a fortification of this city.
