Neglectful Fathers. Christchurch, To-day. At the Resident Magistrate’s Court this morning the master of the Burnham Industrial School informed the Magistrate that during the past month no fewer than seventeen children had been sent to the school upon the understanding that the fathers would contribute a specified weekly sum. In each case the father had not since been heard of. The Magistrate has now adopted the very desirable plan of requiring a surety for the payment of the contributions before committing children to the school.
