Tits Repression Bill. In the House of Commons last night the Irish Repression Bill was again under consideration. In the course of the debate Mr Dillon made a speech, in which he stated that as the landlords were continuing to evict their tenants for non-payment of rent, he must refuse to denounce the commission of outrages against landlords. Mr Gladstone replied in strong terras of reprobation of the altitude assumed by Mr Dillon, and stated that the Government felt that it was imperative that the Repression Bill should become law.
When Order is Restored. Constantinople, May 24.
It has transpired that Lord Dufferin, British representative, and Marquis de Nodes, French Ambassador, in their replies to the demands of the Porte, have promised that the united squadron of French and Kngbsh ironclads shall be withdrawn from Egyptian waters as soon as order has been restored in that country.
Going to Stop It. St. Petersburg!!, May 23. It is officially announced that the Czar has determined to put a stop to the violent attacks which for some time past have been made upon the Jews in Southern Russia, and that inexorable punishment will be inflicted upon perpetrators of such outrages.
